The goal for a successful interview for a Litigation Paralegal is for the candidate to demonstrate their experience in drafting legal documents, their ability to manage a high volume of cases, and their knowledge of civil litigation procedures.

Situational interview questions

  • You are working on a case and realize that you are missing key information. How do you approach your supervisor and inform them of the issue, and what steps do you take to find the missing information?
  • A client has brought a complex case to your attention, and you need to ensure that all relevant documents are organized and understood by the team. What steps would you take to understand the case, identify key documents, and ensure that the team is on the same page?
  • Your team is working on a lengthy case with multiple defendants, and the judge has asked for an update on your progress. How would you go about creating a clear and concise report that highlights progress, obstacles, and any issues that need to be addressed moving forward?
  • A client has raised concerns about the cost of the legal proceedings. How would you go about reviewing expenses to ensure that they are reasonable and necessary, and what steps would you take to explore potential alternatives to reduce costs where appropriate?
  • You have been asked to assist a lead attorney with trial preparation. How would you go about researching and reviewing key documents, preparing exhibits, and ensuring that all relevant information is available to the team for trial?
