SEO Manager Interview Questions

The goal for a successful interview for SEO Manager is to assess the candidate’s experience and knowledge in search engine optimization, including strategy development, keyword research, content optimization, analytics, and link building.

Situational interview questions

  • Imagine that a client has recently experienced a significant drop in their website traffic. How would you approach the situation? What steps would you take to identify the cause of the decrease in traffic, and what strategies would you employ to address the issue?
  • You have just taken on a new client and are tasked with improving their website’s search engine rankings. However, the client’s website has numerous technical issues which are hindering its performance. What steps would you take to identify and resolve these issues, and how would you communicate your strategy to the client?
  • A competitor is outranking your client on several of their priority keywords, in spite of having weaker content and backlinks. How would you go about reversing this trend and closing the gap, and what specific tactics would you utilize to get there?
