Work-life balance definition

Work-life balance refers to an individual’s ability to balance time allocated to work and other aspects of life.

The ability to balance work and life depends on many factors among which we most often find gender, time spent at work and family characteristics. Men are more prone to prioritizing work over their family responsibilities, whereas women prioritize family life over work.

With modern times, the nature of the work itself has changed, and now when people can work from their laptops and smartphones using skype, email and other ways of communication, the trend of “taking work home with you” is on the rise. This has a significant impact on the work-life balance as it’s become hard to distinguish when the work stops and the rest of the life starts.
