Random testing refers to the method of keeping a check on employee’s substance abuse through administered drug and alcohol tests conducted at random intervals.

Random testing refers to the method of keeping a check on employee’s substance abuse through administered drug and alcohol tests conducted at random intervals.

In order to be able to perform this activity companies have to mention it in their policies regarding employee drug testing. The number of time an employee can be tested is limited by stating the time period.

When to conduct random testing

Random testing promotes a drug-free and safe workplace.

They should be conducted when the employer has an evidence or reason to believe that a particular employee is engaged in drug abusing either through getting a complaint from an employee’s colleague or noticing the drug-related changes in behavior.
