Career pathing definition

Career path refers to the growth of the employee in an organization where an employee charts a course for his/her career path, growth and development. It includes different positions an employee might preform as he/she grows in an organization.

The employee can move vertically, laterally or cross functionally to move to a different type of job role.

Importance of Career path

Companies work on ensuring that its employees move in career path the way they want by conducting proper job analysis in order to make sure the employees will remain with them in the long-term.

The employee can work with the company to identify areas where relevant training is required for the employee to build his/her skillsets to be able to succeed at future job requirements.

When done right, carrer path benfits both the employee (by giving him/her the course, knowledge and training for future career developement) and the employer (by ensuring employees will be commited longer to the company).
