The goal for a successful interview for a Strategic Account Manager is to assess the candidate’s experience in managing key accounts, ability to develop and execute account strategies, and aptitude for identifying new opportunities and driving revenue growth.
Situational interview questions
- Imagine one of your strategic accounts is experiencing a delay in receiving their products. You have spoken to the logistics team, but they cannot provide a definite solution. What steps would you take to address this issue?
- One of your strategic accounts is considering a competitor’s product that appears to be more cost-effective. How would you approach the situation to retain the account?
- What would you do if you identified a major issue with one of your products that has been sold to strategic accounts? How would you communicate and resolve the issue with the customer?
- A strategic account is experiencing challenges in integrating your product into their system. What is your approach to resolve the issue and ensure customer satisfaction?
- One of your strategic accounts has recently merged with another company. How would you approach the account to understand how the merger will impact their future business, and how would you proceed to ensure continued success for your own company?
