Sales Advisor Interview Questions

The goal for a successful interview for a Sales Advisor is to assess the candidate’s ability to meet sales targets, understand customer needs, and effectively communicate product benefits.

Situational interview questions

  • Imagine a dissatisfied customer approaches you with a product that does not fit their needs, what steps would you take to solve their problem and turn their experience into a positive one?
  • A potential client is hesitant to purchase a product because of a competitor’s superior pricing scheme, how would you address this obstacle and convince the client of the value of our product?
  • A client complains about a technical issue with the product they just purchased, and they’re getting frustrated with the process. What would you do to quickly and effectively address their issues, while still maintaining their confidence in our brand and getting them to be satisfied with their purchase?
  • What would you do if a client came to you with a complicated issue that you could not immediately solve? How would you handle the situation and ensure that the customer is satisfied with the resolution they receive?
  • A customer is unhappy with the service they received, and wants to cancel their contract. Describe how you would go about addressing their concerns and guide them to reconsider their decision.

Soft skills interview questions

  • How do you maintain a positive attitude while facing rejection, and how do you use that experience to improve your future interactions with customers?
  • Can you describe a situation where you had to navigate a difficult conversation with a customer or colleague? How did you approach the situation, and what was the outcome?
  • In what ways do you stay informed about industry trends and customer needs, and how do you use that information to improve your sales performance?
  • Can you describe a time when you had to think creatively to overcome an obstacle in reaching a sales goal? What did you do, and what was the result?
  • How do you tailor your communication style to connect with customers from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives? Can you provide an example?

  • Can you explain the importance of forecasting sales figures and how do you typically go about creating a forecast?
  • What are some common challenges you face as a Sales Advisor and how have you overcome these challenges?
  • How do you approach cold prospecting and what tactics have you found to be successful in securing meetings with potential clients?
