Situational interview questions

  • You are a file clerk and suddenly you notice that a large section of the files are missing from their designated place. What will be your approach to locate the missing files? Please describe your steps while handling the situation.
  • Assume that you received 1,000 files that require immediate processing before the end of the day. You are the only file clerk present today, and you have six hours left to complete this task. What strategy will you use to complete the project within the given timeframe? Please justify your method.
  • Consider that you come across a confidential file regarding a high-profile client mistakenly kept in an unsecured filing cabinet. What would you do when you realise that the file is confidential? How would you protect the client’s privacy and ensure that others’ access is limited?

What would be the course of action to find the missing pieces? Please outline the investigation process you will apply in this scenario.
  • You are assigned a backlog of files that have accumulated over several months. How will you prioritize your tasks? Will you tackle old documents before new ones, or based on a different principle? Explain with examples how you would resolve the challenge.
