The goal for a successful interview for an Estimator is to demonstrate their ability to accurately estimate costs and timelines for projects, showcase their knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, and effectively communicate with clients and team members.
Situational interview questions
- You are working on a project where the client keeps changing design specifications. How would you handle these changes while still maintaining the budget and timeline for the project?
- You have just received a project with a particularly complex design. What steps would you take to ensure accurate estimates without over or underestimating the costs involved?
- During a project, you discover that some of the materials you initially planned to use are unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances. What steps would you take to ensure that the project can proceed without too much disruption or delay?
- A project has been delayed due to a shortage of available workers. How would you go about finding additional resources to meet the project’s timeline without impacting the budget?

Soft skills interview questions
