The goal for a successful interview for a UI-UX Designer is for the candidate to demonstrate their ability to design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces that effectively solve user problems.
Situational interview questions
- You are tasked with redesigning a mobile app for a client. However, they have a limited budget and cannot afford extensive user research. How would you approach the design process to ensure that the end product meets the needs of their users?
- You are leading the redesign of a company’s website, but a key stakeholder disagrees with the design direction chosen by your team. How would you address their concerns while also staying true to your design principles and goals?
- A user has reported difficulty using a specific feature of a product you designed. How would you approach troubleshooting the issue and identifying potential solutions?
- You are designing a UI for a new product that has never been built before. How would you approach the design process differently compared to redesigning an existing product?
- A client has requested that you design a website that is accessible to users with disabilities. How would you ensure that the website is fully accessible and meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)?
Soft skills interview questions
- Describe a time when you had to work with a difficult client or team member. How did you handle the situation and what was the outcome?
- Can you provide an example of a project where you had to balance competing priorities and how did you prioritize your tasks?
- Tell us about a time when you had to present your design ideas to a non-technical audience. How did you communicate your ideas effectively and adjust your approach when necessary?
- How do you handle constructive feedback and incorporate it into your work? Give us an example of when you received feedback and how you implemented changes.
- Describe a situation where you had to work under pressure and how you managed to meet the deadline while still maintaining the quality of the design.
