The goal for a successful interview for a driver is to showcase their expertise in driving, demonstrate excellent safety practices and protocols, and display a strong work ethic and commitment to punctuality and reliability.

Situational interview questions

  • You are driving a client across town and suddenly realize that you are running out of gas. What steps would you take to solve this problem and ensure that the client reaches their destination on time?
  • On your morning delivery route, you encounter a road closure that was not on your initial route plan. What actions would you take to find an alternative route and ensure that your delivery schedule stays on track?
  • You are transporting perishable goods and your vehicle breaks down in a remote area. How would you quickly identify and solve any mechanical issues, and safely protect the goods from spoiling?
  • While driving in poor weather conditions, you notice that the vehicle in front of you loses control and crashes. What immediate steps would you take to ensure the safety of yourself and other road users, while still being able to deliver your cargo on time?
  • You encounter unexpected heavy traffic on the way to deliver a time-sensitive package. What would you do to ensure that you still deliver the package on time without breaking any traffic rules or compromising safety?

Soft skills interview questions

  • Can you tell us about a time when you had to remain calm and patient while dealing with a difficult passenger?
  • How do you ensure safety for yourself, passengers, and other drivers while on the road?
