The goal for a successful interview for an Animator is to effectively showcase their creative abilities, demonstrate their proficiency in animation software and technologies, and communicate their understanding of storytelling and character development through their portfolio and responses to questions.

Situational interview questions

  • Imagine you are a 2D animator working on a feature-length movie project. You have just received feedback from the director that one of the character’s movements in a particularly important scene does not look realistic. How would you approach revising the animation while still maintaining the consistency of the character’s design and movement style?
  • You are working on a time-sensitive animation project and one of your team members has unexpectedly called in sick. As their colleague, you must temporarily take over their responsibilities in addition to your own. Describe how you would prioritize your workload and ensure that both tasks are completed on time.
  • You have just completed an 3D animation prototype for a new mobile game and have shown it to your team. The team has come back with suggestions to improve the animation but do not have any examples of their desired outcome.
