Bradford formula definition
Bradford formula is a term used in HR management as a way to standardize and measure worker absenteeism aka to calculate an attendance score. The theory behind the Bradford factor suggests that short, unplanned absences are more disruptive than longer-term, planned absences.
How to measure Bradford factor
The formula used to produce a score is: B = S² x D.
B = the Bradford Factor score
S = the number of separate absences over a defined period of time
D = the total number of days of absence over the same defined period of time
A score above 450 is generally categorised as “recommended dismissal” while a score between 250 and 499 is categorised as “final written warning”.
