The goal for a successful interview for a Project Manager is for the interviewer to be convinced that the candidate has the ability to lead and manage complex projects, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and can problem-solve and make strategic decisions.
Situational interview questions
- You discover that a critical team member working on an essential project component is consistently arriving late to meetings and missing deadlines. How would you approach this situation as a project manager?
- A key stakeholder in your project is requesting that a significant change be made to the project scope just days before the project deadline. How would you go about evaluating the request and deciding whether to accommodate it?

- How have you managed cross-functional teams in previous projects, and what strategies did you use to ensure successful collaboration?
- Can you walk me through a project where unexpected challenges arose, and how you handled those challenges to ensure project success?
- Have you managed projects with a remote or distributed team? How did you handle communication and ensure everyone was on the same page?
- Can you provide an example of how you used data or metrics to track project progress and make informed decisions throughout the project lifecycle?
