The goal for a successful interview for a Digital Account Manager is to showcase their ability to understand the client’s digital marketing needs, demonstrate their expertise in implementing strategies for clients, and highlight their project management skills in delivering successful campaigns.

Situational interview questions

  • One of your client’s websites has been hacked and important data has been compromised. What steps would you take to help the client recover their data and ensure that similar incidents are prevented from happening in the future?
  • One of your team members has submitted a project that contains a significant error that went unnoticed during the review process. The client has noticed the mistake and is very unhappy. How would you handle this situation and what steps would you take to prevent similar mistakes from happening in the future?
  • One of your clients is interested in exploring new digital marketing channels that your team has not worked on before. How would you go about researching and evaluating these channels to determine if they are a good fit for the client and your team, and how would you implement these new channels if they are deemed to be a good fit?

Soft skills interview questions

  • Can you tell me about a time when you had to adapt to a sudden change in client needs or priorities? How did you handle the situation?
  • How do you approach managing multiple client relationships and prioritizing tasks?
  • Can you describe your communication style and give an example of a time when it helped you successfully communicate with a difficult client?
  • How do you handle conflicts or misunderstandings with team members or clients?
  • Can you share an example of a creative solution you developed to address a client’s challenge or problem?

Role-specific interview questions

  • Can you explain your experience with Google Analytics and how you have used it in your previous roles as a Digital Account Manager?
  • How have you handled difficult client requests or situations in the past, specifically when it comes to digital campaigns or initiatives?
  • Can you discuss your experience with managing and optimizing paid search campaigns, specifically within Google AdWords and Bing Ads?
  • Have you worked with any of the major social media advertising platforms (e.g. Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, LinkedIn Ads)? Can you walk us through a successful campaign or initiative you managed on these platforms?

What tasks were you responsible for, and how did you prioritize and manage your workload? What actions did you take to ensure the success of these campaigns, and what were the measurable results?

2. Tell us about a time when you had to deal with a difficult client in your role as a Digital Account Manager. What was the situation, and what were your assigned tasks? How did you handle the client’s demands or concerns? What steps did you take to resolve any issues, and what were the final results?

3. Describe a situation where you had to develop a new digital strategy for a client. What were your specific tasks in this project, and how did you research and analyze the client’s needs and goals? What actions did you take to develop and implement the strategy, and what was the measurable impact on the client’s business?

4. Can you share an example of a successful digital campaign that you managed from start to finish? What was the situation, and what was your role in the campaign? What actions did you take to ensure its success, and what were the measurable results or outcomes?

5. Tell us about a time when you had to deal with a technical issue related to a digital project. What was the situation, and what were your assigned tasks? How did you troubleshoot the issue and find a solution? What actions did you take to prevent similar issues from happening in the future, and what was the final outcome or result?
