We are looking for a skilled Concrete Finisher who will be responsible for finishing concrete surfaces to specific textures and smoothness. In this position, you will be expected to apply curing and sealing compounds, clean and maintain tools and equipment, and pour materials into or over designated areas.

Concrete Finisher duties and responsibilities

  • Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints.
  • Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
  • Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills, and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete or pattern or stamp the surface to provide a decorative finish.
  • Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surfaces of freshly poured concrete.
  • Operate power vibrator to compact concrete.
  • Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or special tools to spread it.
  • Mix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete-mixing machine.
  • Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete, and move chute to direct concrete on forms.
  • Waterproof or restore concrete surfaces, using appropriate compounds.

Concrete Finisher requirements and qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Experience with various types of concrete finishing techniques
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor environments
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations
