Electrical Apprentice Interview Questions
The goal for a successful interview for an Electrical Apprentice is to showcase their understanding of electrical theories, their ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, and their practical experience in handling electrical tools and equipment.
Situational interview questions
- You have been assigned to install a new electrical panel, but upon arrival at the worksite, you find that the panel is not compatible with the existing wiring. How would you solve this problem?

- Can you explain what a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) is and describe how it works?
- For a simple circuit with a DC voltage source and two resistors, calculate the total circuit resistance, the current flowing through each resistor and the voltage drop across each resistor.
- What are the three basic types of electrical hazards, and can you give examples of each?
- Explain the difference between alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) and give examples of where each type of current is used.
- Can you describe the principle of operation of a transformer and give an example of where a transformer might be used in an electrical system?
